Welcome to The Boones Creek Beacon, the local newsletter dedicated to the heart of Boones Creek and the surrounding areas in Johnson City, Tennessee!
Named after the historic and vibrant Boones Creek community — with its scenic roads, welcoming neighborhoods, proximity to Boone Lake, and strong sense of place in Northeast Tennessee — this newsletter is all about keeping neighbors connected, informed, and inspired.
What We’re About
The Boones Creek Beacon started as an idea to bring hyper-local news, stories, and updates right to your inbox (and eventually, in print form too). We cover the things that matter most to folks living, working, and playing here:
- Community Events & Happenings — From neighborhood gatherings, holiday events, and local festivals to school activities, church events, farmers markets, and outdoor adventures around Boone Lake and the nearby trails.
- Neighbor Spotlights — Stories about the people who make Boones Creek special: longtime residents, new families moving in, local heroes, small business owners, volunteers, and everyday folks doing great things.
- Local News & Updates — What’s happening on Boones Creek Road and nearby — road projects, new developments (like the upcoming Boones Creek Promenade with shops and more), school news from Boones Creek Elementary and surrounding areas, safety tips, and community initiatives.
- Helpful Resources — Ties directly into our parent site, tricitiestnguide.com, including quick links to food assistance, housing support, utility help, job resources, and other community services for anyone in need.
- Fun & Flavor — Hidden gems like local eateries, seasonal activities, outdoor spots, family-friendly ideas, and ways to get involved or give back.
From Facebook to Your Doorstep
We launched with a presence on Facebook to start conversations, share quick updates, and build community buzz. The page has been a great way to post real-time notices, event reminders, photos from around the neighborhood, and to hear directly from you — our neighbors.
Now, we’re expanding to a full newsletter format:
- Digital Edition — Delivered straight to your email (sign up coming soon at tricitiestnguide.com or via our links). Expect monthly or bi-monthly issues packed with stories, calendars, and features.
- Offline/Print Version — Coming soon! We’re working toward printed copies available at local spots — think libraries, coffee shops, community centers, churches, and businesses in Boones Creek and nearby Johnson City areas. Physical mailers will follow as we grow, including special “Local Spotlight” editions highlighting businesses, nonprofits, and community standouts.
This is a grassroots, community-first project. It’s not about big corporate news — it’s about us: the people who wave at each other on walks, cheer at little league games, support local causes, and love calling Boones Creek home.
