The site of the first permanent American settlement west of the Appalachians and headquarters of the Overmountain Men's 1780 muster march to the Battle of Kings Mountain. The 70-acre park features a meticulously reconstructed Fort Watauga, an award-winning museum with Revolutionary War artifacts, and interpretive trails along the Watauga River. The annual Overmountain Victory Living History weekend every October recreates the muster with hundreds of costumed reenactors.
