The oldest original territorial capitol building in the United States, Rocky Mount served as the capital of the Territory of the United States South of the River Ohio from 1790 to 1792. The restored 1770s log house and outbuildings in Piney Flats are interpreted by costumed staff as a living history site depicting frontier political and domestic life during the territorial period.
