Hurd and Company (Sounds of Summer)

The Sounds of Summer Concert Series brings live music to Downtown Center each Tuesday and Thursday evening during the months of June, July and August. What began in 1998 from an informal gathering of local musicians has grown into a much-anticipated community tradition that some might argue is the best part of summer. The concerts are free and typically feature bluegrass bands on Tuesdays and country/southern rock on Thursday evenings, weather permitting, from 7 to 9 p.m. As a special feature of this series, one evening a month is set aside for a tribute band that features the songs of some of our favorite artists.

Spectators are invited to bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy a snack from our concession stand.

Hurd & Company is a bluegrass group from northeast Tennessee. Consisting of core members Matthew Hurd, David Mowell, David Roller,and Kris Rasnake, the band is as comfortable playing hard driving traditional Bluegrass as it is Americana and Folk influenced tunes. This band has a sound which will not only satisfy hardcore fans, but will be sure to create new ones as well!
