Long Island Heritage Days honors Kingsport's remarkable past as a sacred Cherokee site and the launching point for the Overmountain Men who defeated the British at the Battle of Kings Mountain. Living history encampments, Cherokee cultural demonstrations, period craft demonstrations, and costumed re-enactors bring the 18th century to life along the Holston River. The event is one of the most historically substantive festivals in the region and free to attend. A genuinely educational experience rooted in the land's extraordinary significance.
