Shady Valley Cranberry Festival
📅 Saturday, October 10, 2026
🕐 10:00am – 11:59pm 📍 Regional Festivals
Shady Valley's rare highland cranberry bogs — one of only a handful of natural cranberry bogs in the southern Appalachians — turn crimson each October, triggering one of the region's most unique festivals. The Cranberry Festival celebrates this ecological wonder with bog tours, nature walks, local food vendors, craft artisans, and live mountain music in a breathtaking valley setting surrounded by Iron Mountain and Holston Mountain. The community of Shady Valley itself, population a few hundred, is one of the most charmingly remote communities in Tennessee. Dress in layers — October temperatures in the valley can be crisp.
