The Virginia Highlands Festival is one of Virginia's oldest and most beloved arts events, transforming downtown Abingdon's historic district into an outdoor gallery with fine art exhibitions, juried crafts, live performances, antique shows, and a writers' symposium spanning nine summer days. Over 150 juried artisans from across the eastern United States display their work amid Abingdon's remarkably preserved 18th- and 19th-century streetscape. The festival's programming spans visual arts, music, film, and literary events. A genuine cultural institution that has drawn art lovers to Southwest Virginia for over 50 years.
