Abingdon's Christmas parade winds through the town's stunning historic district — named one of the most beautiful small towns in America — with festive floats, marching bands, equestrian groups, and community organizations celebrating the holiday season. The Barter Theatre and historic Martha Washington Inn provide spectacular backdrops for the parade route. Downtown merchants extend holiday hours, and the evening features Christmas tree lighting and carolers throughout the historic district. The town's exceptional architectural heritage makes this among the most beautiful Christmas parade settings in the Appalachian region.
