Doe River Covered Bridge

The 1882 Elizabethton Covered Bridge is a rare surviving example of a 19th-century Howe truss covered bridge, spanning the Doe River in the heart of Elizabethton and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 134-foot span is open to pedestrian traffic and is one of the most photographed landmarks in Carter County. The adjacent riverbank park with picnic tables, fishing access, and a historic atmosphere makes it a delightful stop on any Carter County itinerary.
