Tennessee's only National Forest encompasses 650,000 acres divided into north and south sections, with the northern unit wrapping around the Tri-Cities region through Carter, Johnson, Sullivan, and Washington counties. This vast public land offers hundreds of miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, dozens of campgrounds, wild and scenic rivers, and habitats supporting over 200 species of birds and 60 native fish species. The Cherokee NF is the foundational outdoor recreation resource of the Tri-Cities region.
