A spectacular roadless river canyon along the Unicoi-Greene county border where the Nolichucky River cuts through a 2,000-foot-deep gorge accessible only by river or trail, offering some of the finest Class III-IV whitewater in the eastern United States alongside outstanding backcountry camping at the river's edge. The surrounding Pisgah and Cherokee National Forest lands protect the watershed. The gorge is a premier adventure destination drawing paddlers, hikers, and naturalists from across the Southeast.
