Rocky Mount is a National Historic Landmark preserving the 1772 log home of William Cobb, which served as the first territorial capitol of the Southwest Territory — the governing seat of the future state of Tennessee. Governor William Blount operated the territorial government from this remarkable structure, one of the oldest surviving log structures in Tennessee. Guided tours by costumed interpreters bring the late 18th-century frontier to life with demonstrations of period cooking, crafts, and daily life. The surrounding farm outbuildings have been restored to period appearance.
