This commemorative march retraces the route of the Overmountain Men who departed from Sycamore Shoals in 1780 to defeat British forces at Kings Mountain, a turning point of the American Revolution. Participants walk a portion of the historic trail in period attire, accompanied by living history interpreters and militia re-enactors. The event culminates in a ceremony at the Sycamore Shoals fort site honoring the patriots' sacrifice. One of the most meaningful historical commemorations in the entire Appalachian region.
