A competitive whitewater kayak and canoe race on the Nolichucky River's famous Class III–IV gorge section between Poplar, NC and Erwin, TN — one of the most storied whitewater runs in the Southern Appalachians. Spectators can view the race from multiple riverside access points without entry fees. A riverside festival at the Erwin takeout celebrates finishers with food, music, and an awards ceremony. The Nolichucky Gorge is widely regarded as one of the top whitewater runs in the eastern U.S.
