Abingdon's beloved annual Christmas parade winds through the National Register historic district with marching bands, equestrian entries, community floats, and Santa's arrival to formally open the holiday season in Washington County VA. The historic streetscape of 18th and 19th-century brick storefronts provides an extraordinarily handsome setting for the parade, which has occurred in some form for over a century. A community tradition that brings the greater Abingdon region together each December.
