Join us on Saturday, November 21, 2:00-4:00pm to meet author Bonny Gable, hear about her locally set book The Martha Odyssey, and get a chance to purchase signed copies!
The Martha Odyssey weaves local history and legend into its pages. The campus of Martha Washington College in Abingdon, Virginia, thriving today as The Martha Washington Inn, was once a vibrant scene of academic pursuit and social life for young women from myriad states in the American South. Gable’s book sweeps the reader into that world of early 20th-century college life in a mysterious tale of one young woman’s complex journey of determination and bravery.
Bonny Gable is a retired professor of theater, having served as the director of theater at King College and later as director of the performing arts department at Virginia Intermont College. In addition to The Martha Odyssey, she has authored two plays and holds membership in the Dramatists Guild of America. She has penned numerous articles published on the Barter Theatre Blog and in A! Magazine for the Arts, and a children’s book that helps explain Alzheimer’s disease.
