🏥 County Health Departments
Tennessee county health departments (run by TN Department of Health) provide immunizations, WIC, birth/death certificates, family planning, STI/HIV testing, well-child screenings, and environmental health permits. Most services are by appointment; fees may be sliding-scale.
Common services: • Immunizations (children & adults) • WIC nutrition program • Vital records (birth & death certificates) • Family planning & pregnancy testing • TB, HIV/STI testing & treatment • Dental & primary care (varies by county) • Septic/well permits & restaurant inspections (environmental health) For emergencies call 911. For urgent illness, use a hospital ER or urgent care (see Emergency section). County health departments are not 24-hour walk-in clinics.

Federally Qualified Health Center with 12 clinics in 8 northeast Tennessee counties. Sliding-scale primary care, pediatrics, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dental — separate from county health departments but a key option for uninsured newcomers.
Main campuses include Rogersville, Church Hill, Kingsport, Greeneville, Mountain City, and more. Call 423-272-5600 or visit rhsctn.com/locations for the clinic nearest you. Accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and uninsured patients on a sliding fee scale.
